PCIe Bifurcation Support on C220-M3

Hello,

We are looking into upgrading some Cisco UCSC-C220-M3SBE servers with M.2 NVMe drives.

We've done some promising testing with a single NVMe drive, but would need more than one in our production servers.

Does the C220-M3 support PCIe Bifurcation? This allows an x8 or an x16 slot to be treated as x4/x4 or x4/x4/x4/x4, and through adapters like the Supermicro AOC-SLG3-2M2, connect two x4 NVMe devices to a single x8 PCIe slot.

Thanks,

-Adrian

I haven't found an answer to the specific question yet but here is an alternative:

Use a board that does its own bifurcation. Part Number: SI-PEX40152

Has the Switchtec PFX-L 32xG3 Chipset - Supports Non- Bifurcation and Bifurcation Motherboards

The chip on board the adapter handles the x4/x4/x4/x4

You can order from Alibaba directly or for just a little more on Amazon.

They also make a 2-port board but it uses a different bifurcation chipset that isn't as good.
