Quick question on HUU Rebooting

Hello All,

If we upgrade all components during a HUU for a UCS server not just CIMC will this result in the server having to reboot as it includes firmware? Just trying to understand if we can do the all components HUU upgrade in hours not affecting APIC/services running on top.

Thank you

Running the HUU, means you have rebooted the server, and have booted into the HUU ISO  mini OS (no longer running apic).

While it is possible to extract just the CIMC firmware and apply that via the CIMC web interface, that is generally not recommended, as the CIMC and BIOS are generally matched together, and mismatches can cause all kinds of issues.

You should have 3 apics in production anyway, so just make sure you are doing one at a time.

You might want to hold back updating the CIMC until Cisco releases one that fixes the Apache Log4j Library security vulnerability (CVSS Score:  10) affecting APIC and CIMC.
