Snmp & UCS manager 2.2 - no traps

Hello,

I'm trying to assemble a light monitoring solution / Proof of Concept using snmp for our Lab infrastructure.

In this lab we have FI 6248, Nexus 5548, some Netapp & EMC equipment, ...

I get all the snmp basic informations I need from all the equipment except from the FI 6248

We are running the following kernel on both Fabric Interconnect : 5.2(3)N2(2.21c)

The UCS manager version is 2.2(1c)

I configured a  "public" snmp trap community using CLI (

>scope monitoring

>enable snmp

>set snmp community public

>commit-buffer

Then using a CentOS machine on the same vlan/ip range, I'm trying to receive the traps but can seem to receive anything.

[root@gouyasse etc]# snmpgetnext -d -v 1 -c public ucsfic sysUpTime

Sending 42 bytes to UDP: [xx.xx.xx.xx]:161->[0.0.0.0]

...

Timeout: No Response from ucsfic

the same happens when using v2c

I also tried the same on a UCS PE but with no luck either.

What am I doing wrong ?

Why are you using CLI and not GUI to setup snmp ?

I miss in your cli commands the IP address of the snmp trap server ?

I also tried to use the GUI but with no luck either.

the last line of the first message contains the ip adress of the trap server.

Could it be a firewall problem ?

Don't think so.

There should not be any active firewall in this infra but to be sure I'm currently installing a Windows machine where I'll put a Wireshark to check if I see any SNMP packets going through

Hi Eric

Can you please clarify: do you try to receive UCS snmp traps on your CentOS box and/or do snmp polls from your CentOS server.

In the latter case, you need to download and install the UCS Mib:
