Hi Experts,

Due to customer’s application requirement in a project, need to run SUSE Linux 11 SP1 in B420 M3 (we currently using UCSM 2.2.3), however, while installing SUSE 11 SP1 it can not find hard drives and installation failed. We use 300G SAS HDD, and verified everything is fine with SUSE11 SP3.
From document, UCS B supports SUSE start from version 11.2:

So would like to confirm whether 11 SP1 can run on B420 M4.
We are asking partner try installing raid controller driver for SUSE 11.2 first and then install 11 SP1, but we are not sure specifically how to do it and whether it can work.

We’ll appreciate your help!
Thanks!

Jiaoying,

Looking through the Matrix. it seems that the SUSE 11.1 SP1 is a non supported version for the current config.

I've actually looked through and none of the versions actually support this version. You will need to go at least to 11.2

Hi jchavesd,

Because customer's application has only been fully tested in SUSE11 SP1, so the require to run on this version.

Is there any way can make B420 run SUSE11 SP1?

We are asking partner trying add LSI SAS2208 raid controller driver for SUSE11.2 first and then install SUSE11 SP1,  do you think this should work?

Thanks very much!

Jiaoying,

the customer could try to use the LSI with SUSE 11.2 drivers and test it out, however as this is a non supported configuration he might experience issues in the future.

Hi jchavesd,

Thanks for help! last night we tried with 11.2 driver but failed. And finally we got a 11.1 driver for LSI SAS2208 and it succeed :)

Jiaoying,

I am glad to hear that you fixed the issue.
