Currently we are using the UCS 5108 N20-C6508 chassis. But its in eol . So can we renew the contract for hardware support or we have to replace the whole chassis?

This chassis is End-of-Sale, but not End-of-Support.

The contract can be renewed.

There is no need (yet) to replace the chassis.

The first generation UCS chassis (N20-C6508) was updated (UCSB-5108-AC2) to include backplane traces to allow UCS-mini.

The first generation UCS chassis stopped being SOLD, hence the EoL announcement you found.

The first generation UCS chassis is still a perfectly valid/usable/supported chassis.

Hi Steven,

However I have found the date of end of support as November 30 2021. Could you please confirm?

To better clarify.

FIrst came EOL11134 (can tell by the lower number) which claims end-of-sale and end-of-support.

    https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-b-series-blade-servers/eos-eol-notice-c51-737833.html

Next came EOL12987 (can tell by the higher number) which claims ONLY end-of-sale and NO end-of-support.

    https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-b-series-blade-servers/eos-eol-notice-c51-742164.html

The first page even was updated to include line:

Note: End of Support Milestones have been updated since this Announcement, please refer to EOL12987

Which basically says ignore the first page and only pay attention to the second page.

I know it can be confusing and has to do with being unable to remove EoX pages.

Eventually when actual end-of-support is announced there will be yet-another-page to add to the confusion.

Hi Steven.

Thank you for clarifying.

Best regards

Thomas

If you look at the EOL announcement referenced above, it says it's "Amended" right at the top.  I believe that this is the correct doc: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-b-series-blade-servers/eos-eol-notice-c51-742164.pdf .  The Chassis originally had an EOL of Nov 30, but that was changed.  Unfortunately, when you do a search online, you will most likely find the original doc with a note that it has been amended, but it still shows the original date.  We looked into this a couple of months ago, and I confirmed it with our Cisco sales rep.  Do note, however, that the UCSB-PSU-2500ACPL that you may have in some of the chassis is still EOL as of June 30, 2022, so those may need to be replaced soon: End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the Cisco UCS N20-6508 5108 UCS Blade Server AC Power Supply .  I don't know about you, I think replacing some PSUs is a lot less painful than replacing a whole chassis
