UCS C240 M4SX – HDD Failure

hi All,

We have on issue for UCS C240 M4SX " we are getting error Storage Virtual Drive 1 Degraded: please check the storage controller, or reseat the storage drive

Virtual drive 6 is missing but in HDD status showing as Green with single LED. We removed and reseated disk -6 but the result is same. Please check and advice if any other troubleshooting steps.

Please provide screen captures from the Physical Drive and Virtual Drive tabs in CIMC.

What physical drive #s make up virtual drive 1? It is possible you have a failed drive and if HDD 6 is part of virtual drive 1 it would explain the error.

Try putting drive currently in slot 6, into an open slot like 21, and see if the drive is detected (it may show foreign config).

If the drive is not detected from raid controller view in CIMC, that I'm guessing drive has some sort of failure regardless of the LED indicator.

If the drive is detected in the new slot, then you will want to move it back to slot 6.  If slot 6 still does not see then you likely have a non-drive related issue such as raid controller or SAS/drive backplane issue, which will need a TAC case opened, with log review to correctly diagnose.
