UCS Local Zoning

Hello, we are using without problem local zoning in UCS domains with FI 6248UP v. 2.2.x (FC switch mode, VSANs, storage policies, vHBA initiators in service profiles and so on ...) and it works like a charm for  the blade servers.  What if we would like to zone a non-UCS server (initiator) in order to see the same storage resources (target) already zoned for the UCS blades? Is it possible?  Thanks Regards  Gianni

Ciao Gianni

I think you have a direct attaced storage array ? FC zoning on UCS is strictly controlled by UCS Manager, e.g. you define your initiators pwwn within your service profile, same for FC target pwwn.

I assume, you would like to attach a non-UCS server with hba to the fabric interconnect, and then use the above zoning.

In addition to FC you would also need a Ethernet / IP connectivity ? this will not work either; remember, FI is not a N5k.

Summary

Unfortunately, non-UCS server integration in UCS is not supported !
