HI, Eric

I download the latest version, But I can not import the .ova file into my vmware workstation, Is there any limitation on the new .ova file and I just have to install it into ESXi by vCenter, but I read the doc that it support .ova import on workstation 8 or up, or the new created .ova file has somewhere corrupted?

I would recommend you use the ZIP file with VMware Workstation. Just import the VMDK / VMX files directly instead of the OVA.

Thanks,

Eric

Hi,

We are looking into the issue on why the import is failing on VMware Workstation when using .ova file. We will investigate and provide more information shortly.

Until then, you could download the .zip file which contains VMDK/VMX files and use it on VMware Workstation.

Thanks,

I am running Cisco UCS Platform Emulator version 2.2(2cPE1) is the a way to add more chassis's or rack servers?

Hi Jason,

This is possible to do this via the 'Emulator Settings' menu. You will find this tab toward the bottom left corner on the main emulator page and will expose your current configuration and allow you to make modifications. You can also change other attributes (Fabric Interconnects, etc) in some of the other tabs from the left-nav menu.

Jeff,

Thanks for the quick response. The Chassis that is in there is fully populated. How do I add another Chassis? I looked and only see blades in the inventory for the Chassis.

I found it. There is a little icon at the top left of the page.

When trying to import UCSPE 2.2.2cPE1 with VMPlayer 6.0.3 I get:

The import failed because C:\Users\kschlepp\Downloads\Cisco_UCS_Platform_Emulator_2.2.2cPE1.ova\Cisco_UCS_Platform_Emulator_2.2.2cPE1.ova did not pass OVF specification conformance or virtual hardware compliance checks.

Click Retry to relax OVF specification and virtual hardware compliance checks and try the import again, or click Cancel to cancel the import. If you retry the import, you might not be able to use the virtual machine in VMware Player.

If I hit Retry I get :

Failed to open virtual machine: Access is denied.

Just downloaded UCSPE 3.0(1cPE1).

I only have one choice of Fabric Interconnect, the UCS-FI-M-6324.  Is this the only FI that I can use with this emulator?

Also, I can't seem to add an additional chassis.  If I try and add an additional chassis it says "Exceed max chassis number(1)".  Anyone know how I get round this?I can't seem to add an additional chassis.  If I try and add an additional chassis it says "Exceed max chassis number(1)".  Anyone know how I get round this?

Hi Ling-Yan,

The current version 3.0 supports only UCS-FI-M-6324. There is no support for 6100 / 6200 Fabric Interconnects in the current release. This is same with real UCS Manager too.

The release supports having only 1 chassis and 4 rack servers as of now. Hence the user cannot configure more than 1 chassis.

If you would want to use 6100 / 6200 Fabric Interconnects or multiple chassis, you can download Cisco UCS Platform Emulator (2.2(2cPE1))
