Hi,

I am trying to understand the UCS, When I boot the server (Chassis-1 Server-2) from UCS, & KVM to it, then Reset it, it can boot from SAN, but it get allocated IP address from somewhere as shown in attached picture.

1) Where this IP address is coming from ? unable to change it till I login to it :(

2) I have forget its password, how I can change the reset the password for it.?

Please advice. Thanks

That IP address is assigned when ESXi is installed. It is likely saved on the boot LUN that ESXi was installed on.

There is no way to recover a forgotten root password in ESXi 6.0. You will need to re-install ESXi.

Changing a forgotten root password on an ESX/ESXi host (1317898)

ESXi 3.5, ESXi 4.x, ESXi 5.x and ESXi 6.x

Reinstalling the ESXi host is the only supported way to reset a password on ESXi.
