Windows 2008R2 and SAN

I'm booting my Windows 2008 R2 from SAN and it works fine. The only way I have been able to have additional disk from the SAN is to include them in the  Boot Policy with a second vHBA. That does not seem right. What is the proper way to present additional LUNs to a windos server? How are the LUN numbers managed?

Harold, your UCSM boot policy should incldue 2 SAN boot targets with the WWPNs of your SAN front end ports. Ideally you would have 2 targets per vHBA.

Your service profile should also include 2 vHBAs; 1 on each fabric.

You would then present LUNs to your host just like any other server.

You do not need to add the additional LUNs to the boot policy, only the boot LUN has to be defined there.
