Just change the subscribers IP in - W2k Network setting - hosts, lmhosts file - CCM (scan menu "System" maybe MediaStreaming, ...) - ... Use DBLhelper.exe to check if the DBs see each other properly and check your subscriber after the move (MoH, ConfBridge). If you use H323 in your voice gateways be sure you change the dial-peer commands. And don't forget 3rd party stuff and features you maybe deployed (Webdialer, CTI, VM, ...) - A lot of stuff is connected to the IP address. If you used DNS names here, your job might be easier. (and yes, change the DNS entries...) Good that you just change the subscriber - no need to change the URLs and the DHCP option settings. IMO physical redundancy is a great idea, if a customer has a proper environment (save server rooms, UPS, ...) I would really recommend that. If your GigE core is stable and not overloaded, you're doing good. Make a list of systems you're using and think about interfaces to the CCM. Thinking and planning are your friends. /Martin

Maybe we were just unlucky with the releases, but we had compatibility problems "TAPS/CSA". TAPS also broke the "user/phone association" which caused almost more work then not using TAPS at all. (The SEP-MAC address was not updated in DCD).

I entered this two commands, I entered the dial-peers and everythings seemed okay - until... somebody tried the power-off/power-on game. No outgoing calls were possible - somehow MGCP was up again, but H323 was still playing some role. And T.38 fax relay was "inhibited". CCM doesn't support T.38 and seems to overwrite the IOS command which allows gateway forced T.38. Not very funny... If you're doing tests with MGCP gateways, don't forget a power off/on test - it's really worth it. /Martin

Just use the "locations" in CCM for every site in a MPLS topology. Don't use the "blank" location for any device - meaning configure the location parameter also for devices in the same LAN as the CCM. There a a bunch of bugs coming for free with Locations (problems with shared lines, counters drift away, ...) - but in our project it works quite good.

SCCP works with the MAC address. With this command you tell the router that it should try to register with the CCM using the MAC address for the interface fas0/1. What IP address it uses is of no interest at this point. In the CCM you have to enter the MAC of the router if you want to have a proper registration (for example as confbridge). /Martin

Hi, If you have an AIM card, don't forget to configure from where it should take the clocking: network-clock-participate wic 0 network-clock-select 1 E1 0/0 Hope, this helps you, /Martin

You actually have to reinstall the CCM - so there are many reloads to do... After reinstalling you cannot use the Backup File to set up the data, you have to do an export of users/phones and reimport on the newly installed CCM. The Utility checks the hostname. The SQL Server will have serious trouble if you just rename the server. My suggestion: live with this name - change the DNS entry.. /Martin

Hi Sean, Yep, we have a similar problem with route points. We have a route-point 111X which connects to an IVR system. Actually, if someone calls e.g. 1115, the IVR system doesn't get the (called) number 1115, but "111X" which is funny but actually not what we (or the IVR script) expect. Might in fact be the same problem as yours. /Martin

Hi, We do it the same way, but you have to listen carefully if the customer mentions performance problems. Most of the cases it poses no problems. However, there are some NICs which have difficulties handling the tagged packets and slow down a lot. You'll have session breaks, packet drops - it can get pretty ugly.... We had at least 2 cases where customers reported problems after configuring every port like this. Cheers, Martin

You are definitely not alone. We had the exactly same issue with the MRP200/300 on the ICS-7750. The IOS gateway had problems as soon as it saw ISDN facilities. We opened a TAC case and the output was a IOS that worked! We are still waiting for the bug fix in the proper IOS releases - for the MRP we now have a "hand-knitted" software ... The bug ID was CSCdz46826 , the case was closed last december. Cheers, Martin

Hi, We had similar problem - but we have E1 on a MRP-200, and CCM 3.2. Anyway, we always suspected an ATA issue because we had some ATA problems in the past. Our symptom was that the customer experienced a disconnect after transmitting about 3 pages (more infos on the paper -> earlier disconnect). In the end it turned out that the problem was with the IOS in the MRP. -> Use the newest IOS available for the MRP. -> Open a TAC Case. -> use ATA SW >= 2.15 Good luck, Martin
