is it possible to connect access switch uplink 1g to core switch 10 g

Hi everyone I have switch 6807XL working perfectly with uplink 10G access switch , but when connect switch 2960 uplink 1gb the interfaces remain down please advise thank you.

I am using media SFP 10G-sr & GLC-SX -MM@marce1000 yes 6807Xl its Fiber
