Hi Ahsan Thankyou for your quick response We have proposed to our customer to look at the ACNS solution as wel but due to budget constraints we will need to use WAAS as they already have WAAS in place and it would require no additional HW or SW. Have you used WAAS with DMS before? do you know what the best way to manage disk space utilization on the WAE would be? I was going to set the preposition task to use differential so we only send what has changed since the last preposition. Does this actually compare whats in the cache and only send what has changed or does it compare what has been modified in the CIFS folder since the last preposition? Have you used flash content with propositioning? Thanks Adam

Hi everyone We are looking to implement the Cisco DMS video solution on network, we will be using the show and share server for the video portal and will be using video on demand content only for progressive downloads. To get around the problem of the video files traversing our network in working hour, we are looking to use WAAS pre-positioning to preposition the video content out to the branch sites out of hours. As the show and share server has limitations on the number of concurrent WMV files it can run, the majoriety of our content will be flash based. This makes a difference when using WAAS prepositiing as only CIFS based content can be fully cached on the local WAE where as the flash content will be prepositioned into the dre cache but is still served from the source server. My questions is, has anyone used Cisco WAAS prepositiing in conunction with the Cisco Show and Share video solution? did you run into any problems with users viewing flash content from the dre cache? With regards to disk space on the branch WAE, how did you monitor this and stop the cache from being filled with video content only, I was thinking of using quota's on the source server side? Many thanks in advance! Adam

Hi all We are in the middle of a WAAS deployment across our network, we have deployed 7341's at our datacecntres using WCCP and 674, 574 and 274's at our branch sites using Inline. 10 Sites have been completed without issue using all of the above hardware models and connection methods however on our last install we attempted to install a 274 WAVE Inline and a small branch site. The WAVE sit's in between the onsite router which is a Nokia and 3750 Cisco Switch, both the switch port and Inlinegroup have been hard coded to 100/full and I was assured that the Nokia NIC port is also set to 100/full. The devices have been cabled up in the following way: Nokia Router to WAVE Inlineport 1/1/wan - Crossover WAVE Inlineport 1/1/lan to Cisco 3750 Switch - Straight Through Nokia Router Port - 100/Full WAVE Inlinegroup - 100/Full 3750 Switch Port - 100/Full When the WAVE was cabled in we found that we couldn't get a link, both the lan and wan inline links reported as being down. If I set the Inlinegroup to Auto the link then came up but we recieved the following error in the CMS: eth_not_fduplex TIRWACMER-01 10.160.27.248 Major The interface InlinePort 1/1/wan,configured for auto negotiation,is not in full-duplex mode. Im thinking there may be a compatability problem between the WAE and Nokia NIC cards? if the switch is plugged directly into the Nokia at 100/Full is is fine with now errors. Any Ideas? Adam

Hi, I am implementing WAAS on our network and am currently in the pilot phase, we are using WAE-7341 at our 3 data centre sites and 30 WAVE-574's at our branch sites. As standard the WAVE-574's come with one hard drive, I am looking to buy an additional hard drive to go into each 574 so the disks are configured in a RAID 1 for resiliance. My question is, if we were to keep with having just the one hard drive in each device and that hard drive went down, how would it effect the WAE and optimisation? Would the WAE stay up? would it carry on accelerating traffic without local caching? if the device was rebooted would the device come back up? I'm trying to get an idea of what impact it would have if we didn't have a resiliance hard drive configuration. Many thanks in advance for your help Adam
