Thanks to Krishna C with the BU, got the fix- in the hosts file on my PC, I added the static mapping of the IP address and host name of the vsm/map server and that fixed it.

Same issue here and it seems like others had this problem before.
Running 7.8 with co-located maps server, uploading .png and .jpg files but no luck. Have restarted services and server as well.
