All 3 (9922, 9912, and 9904) started support with Typhoon based LCs and no Trident support. The exception to the rule is the SIP-700 which will work in the 9904, but not in the 9912 or 9922. The reason why the 9904 is different is because it still uses the RSP440 just like the 9010 and 9006, but the 9922/9912 use an RP with separate fabric modules; so a very different architecture. If an unsupported card was to be inserted you will get the error message "Cardtype xxxx is not supported for this chassis-type”. Thanks, Sam

just i forget to tell you that one of the reason for using the P as RR is the utilization is not exceed 2 to 3 % also we are using the RR for just VPNv4 route not for IPv4 because we are not running internet on this mpls network just for global customer connectivity.

Hello Ahmed, if it is not said in show ver and in datasheets I think it is difficult to find out and it is also not so meaningful: you cannot change the processor chip with a faster one like you can do on a desktop PC. 2) We have PRP2 with 2GB and they currently support 3 BGP full tables. Current free memory is more then 1GB so I would say up to 6 BGP full tables. With 4 GB with 3,5 GB usable according to Q&A you should be able to support 8 BGP full tables. each full table is roughly 300,000 routes nowday and the device has to store in memory all the received updates. We can consider roughly 1 KB for each BGP prefix, 300 MB for table. (conservative, worst case). Hope to help Giuseppe

Hello Paolo, in the context of GSR 12000 now there are two choices: IOS modular IOS XR so I think the original poster is meaning classic IOS and not IOS XR. By the way, conversion of GSR from IOS to IOS XR takes several hours and it is not feasible in a router already in production. My customer is replacing C12008 chassis with C12410 with IOS XR some of new chassis have arrived with IOS and conversion took a lot of time and some problems because the upgrade procedure is not clear on one key point: the need to give an ip address to one management ethernet of the PRP2. So it is reasonable that original poster asks for regular IOS if it is was he has on the chassis. Ahmed: In my personal opinion I would let etherchannels to switches and if possible I would use two GE links as parallel L3 links on the GSR. In the past some issues arose with etherchannel on 3GE engine2 linecard where it was not possible to collect Netflow data to make an example. Hope to help Giuseppe

Hello Ahmed, VPLS is not supported in 7206VXR. about vlan stacking see http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/lanswitch/configuration/guide/lsw_ieee_802.1q.html and for QinQ with PPPoE http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3t/12_3t7/feature/guide/gt_qinq.html Be aware that performance are in the order of 2 Mpps and doesn't allow to use multiple GE ports at wire speeds even with NPE-G2. Hope to help Giuseppe

Hello Ahmed, you need to configure the port for OC-3 operation mode (multi rate = multi speed capabilities). Once you do so the port becomes an OC-3 interface and should be able to use the SFP for OC-3 operations. Hope to help Giuseppe

Hello Ahmed, Cisco 12000 has been totally distributed CEF since its design so there is no difference in the fowarding operations between IOS and IOS XR: I've tested GSRs with IOS and they are totally distributed. This has also some disadvantages: SW features are linecard dependent but for the performance this is the best design. Hope to help Giuseppe

"the 12400 is fully distributed what about the 7600 and what is make 12406 more poweful." To say the 12406 is more powerful than the 7600, you would need to qualify particular attributes. For instance, the 7600 with sup/RSP-720 provide more fabric bandwidth than the 124xx. "what is the architect of the 7606 which not make it fully distributed" Support for classic bus, support for sup32, support for fabric line cards without DFCs.
