How does CiscoWorks RME Syslog Analysis handle timestamp of messages? The server syslog file contains the correct timestamp of the message, but the same message in the Syslog Analysis report is 1 hour off. Any ideas?

Can anyone identify for me what the values of 1 and 8 correspond to in the cdeTrapCircuitUpDown trap? I know one should be "connected" and one should be "disconnected", but don't know which is which.TIA for any help.

Are your devices sending syslog messages anywhere? If so, some simple scripting based on syslog entries would probably do the trick for you and be relatively inexpensive.

I have successfully implemented a solution for this utilizing a freeware product called trapgen from Network Computing Technologies (http://www.ncomtech.com) and some sh/perl scripting.Contact me offline if you would like more specifics.Scott

Are the devices you are attempting to view syslog messages from contained within the inventory on the CiscoWorks server?Check the "Syslog - Unexpected Device Report" and see if any devices are listed in there.

What Operating System are you using? How specifically are you sending your messages (i.e. via a command-line action)?The $D variable available in the Syslog Automatic Actions application will give you the device name.
