thanks for get backing to me on this topic the SFP+ i need 2 of. At the current moment i believe i have found a solution that will fit within my budget by using sfp media converters to take a couple of the standard sfp's and convert them to copper.

Currently i have 2x1GB BGP routers running at my upstream provider. Recently we had a huge DDOS attack that was a UPnP/SSDP attack that was focused at a customer and it was also attacking our DNS server. The BGP routers & Switches were lit up like a christmas tree, all data lights were pretty much solid trying to process the data coming in. Then my BGP routers just shut themselves down i can only assume that was caused by a Buffer overload. Can someone please advise me on if there is something i can do to help prevent this kind of attack in the future?

how can I setup my bgp router to help stop a UpNP/SSDP attack? I recently just had a DDOS Attack that was a UpNP/SSDP attack that was focused on my DNS server. Is there a way that i can configure my BGP routers to help overcome this. This attack literately brought my 2 BGP routers to their Knees and cause the inbound ports to shutdown but the outbound ports to stay up?

Thanks Jon in the scenario this is a Fiber connection that connects 4 major city entities together and all work on one network with cisco 4948 switches at each hop along the network in which we supply the fiber connection and the wireless connection also each location has a ASA5505 as the router/firewall so that may be the route i have to go.

I'm currently trying to configure a catalyst 4948 switch that has 2 internet connections one primary and one secondary. the primary is a fiber connection and the secondary is a wireless connection. i have looked at Link State Tracking but not sure if this is what i need to use in order to get the results i want. which are if the fiber for some reason goes down i want the wireless to kick in automatically as the internet connection until the fiber is fixed.

thanks for the information i have been looking into all options the overall scenarios is as follows. that i need to be able to do. 1. 10 gig bandwidth provided by tier 1 provider goes through the core i need a BGP router that supports 10gig SFP+ connections as the core is the only part that will have 10 gig the OSPF router will be setup only with 1 gig connections but with about 10 or so connections, so in total be able to hit core at 10 gig but in reality probably only about half of that will be actual usage.

i've looked at this option and unfortunately for me it doesn't fit within the budget but i have looked at the 4451-x ISR router which does now i just have to find the module that has 2 SFP+ 10 gig ports

I'm Currently working on a project to upgrade existing network from 1gig to 10 GIG and i can't seem to find out if the 7200VXR router can support this upgrade. we currently use SFP modules and the most of the gear i have support the upgrade to SFP+ for 10 gig but not sure if the router which is our BGP as well will support this. i have spent hours reading and looking into material to see if it is supported. Gbic ?? Gbic 10 gig?? X2 module ?? Can someone please help me on this. also the company i work for has expressed that there is no way to ugrade routers at this point. so i have to make it work.

I'm Having an issue determining how to setup my configs for a VoIP solutions here is what i have. cisco 2811 with a 3550 switch, the company i work for uses a virtual PBX hosted by another company. i have to install the 2811 with the 3550 and 20 cisco 7960 phones. I have done all the DHCP pools, the trunking and vlans and intervlan's . but the main issue is trying to figure out how to setup the telephony service or do i not need to as the host PBX server has all the configs store on it and the original way was just plug and play in a sense with just a few modifications? If more details are needed i can provide.

thanks for the information. to fill in the details this is for a ISP Core upgrade where we are bring in a 10 GIG fiber link to the core and then distributing it to multiple off site locations with 1Gig fiber to these locations. I've been tasked with finding the hardware needed to accomplish this task and so i'm at the point of a financial budget where i need to get 2 BGP routers and at least 2 if not 4 switches that can handle this uplink and distribution
