Hi Mir
It would be great if you could clarify the step when you mention, "creating ESXi Host". Do you mean you face issue while adding the ESXi to PCD? what is the exact error message you see?

hi Jm let me check and get back to you on how you enable NFS in ESXi. PCD uses NFS to transfer the ISO to boot the VMs. Regards Raees Shaikh

Hi Ales Q: What about migrating CTL in this case? does PCD take care of everything? What is the proper procedure? [Raees] Although PCD does take a backup of the CTL file & the private/public keys for different roots ex. CAPF, its highly recommended that you re-run the CTL Client after migration. Q: Does PCD take care of ELM migration which is in our case co-resistent on Publisher node? [Raees] In UC ver 10.x & above, ELM has been changed to PLM (Prime License Manager) & you would need ver 10.x licenses to work with UC ver 10.x. You will have to install & migrate ver 9.x licenses to ver 10.x using PLM. P.S: Kindly rate the blog if you find it useful. Regards Raees Shaikh

Hi Aman Please find the answers inline 1. CUCM 8.5.1 Pub and Sub 2. CUC and UCCX 8.5.1 respectively. We have ordered two BE6K servers to migrate above applications to release 10. I am planning to use PCD for this and have few questions 1. We are not running CUPS and no plans to run IM&P. Does that mean that i dont need to create an IM&P ova for this migration? [Raees] If you dont use IM & P, there is no need to create an instance of the same. 2. PCD doesnt support CUC and UCCX migration at the moment. what is the best approach to have them migrated across to BE6Ks with minimum down time? [Raees] Since PCD does not support the migration task for UCCX & Unity Connection, you will have to use the manual method to migrate these two application. 3. For licensing, can I install PLM 10 on BE6K in advance of migration? having other VMs running on BE6K shouldn't affect the migration? [Raees] Yes, you can install a stand alone PLM & install the licenses or after the migration you can use the PLM from one of the applications to manage the licenses. Once you upgrade to UC ver 10, you get a grace period of 60 days to upload the licenses. 4. We do have Vmware foundation licensing ordered with BE6K servers. so I hope PCD works fine there? [Raees] Im not sure I got your question right, nevertheless, PCD has nothing to do with UC or Vmware licensing as long as you are able to create a Vm using OVA for PCD & install PCD. 5. I can see PCD 10.5 is available. Can I use it to migrate from 8.5.1 to 10.5 directly? Release notes says below "For a migration from Release 10.0(1) to Release 10.5(1) to be successful, you must upgrade all source cluster Cisco Unified Communications Manager nodes to 10.0(1)SU1, at a minimum, before using Cisco Prime Collaboration Release 10.5(1) to perform a migration." does that mean that pcd 10.5 is only for migrations from 10 to 10.5? [Raees] No. You can use PCD 10.5 to migrate from CUCM 8.5 to CUCM ver 10.5 6. I believe PCD doesnt use DRS at any point so 8.5.1 to 10 shouldnt be affected by CSCtn50405? [Raees] Yes. PCD does not use DRS to perform migrate operation.

Hi Clark Im not sure if I understand the question correctly. If you are talking about the Vm's you created to test the migration, there is no way to refresh the data & you will have to delete them as per your requirement. Regards Raees Shaikh

Hi You should be able to find the OVA in www.cisco.com downloads section using the following path Downloads Home > Products > Unified Communications > Call Control > Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManager) > Cisco Unified Communications Manager Version 10.0 > Unified Communications Manager Virtual Machine Templates-10.0(1) Regards Raees Shaikh P.S: Please rate this post if you find it helpful.

Hi Anish In that case i would suggest you to perform the upgrade in maintenance window. As described before, once the server upgrade is successful to CUCM ver 10.5, you need to take a backup, create a Vm using the CUCM 10.5 OVA & perform restore. You would need to perform this procedure starting with the Publisher. While you perform the upgrade/install, the server would try to contact the Default GW, DNS etc, therefore, it would be good to have them connected to the actual network. In regards to certificates, the private & public keys will be copied over & therefore, you will not run into certificate issues. However, before proceeding with any of the above, I would highly recommend you to take a backup of existing CUCM 8.6 cluster. Regards Raees Shaikh P.S: Please rate the post if you find it helpful.

Hi Even if you do the migration with IP Address change, the private & public keys will be copied to the new server (CUCM 10.x) & therefore you shouldn't run into any certificate issues & the phones will register seamlessly. I have already tested this in my lab, but it would be good if you can test in lab what exactly you are planning to do before performing the action on production device. Hope that is helpful. Thanks & Regards Raees Shaikh P.S.: Please rate the post if you find it helpful.

Hi Anish As per the design, there is no way to adjust the 8.6 OVF Template to match the requirements of 10.x OVF template. The only problem I suspect in the manual procedure you mentioned above is during the installation of the fresh CUCM 10.x connected to the new virtual switch, it would try to reach the Default GW, DNS, NTP etc. & they should be reachable for the installation to complete. On this to note is, its not a mandatory requirement to have PCD running on the same physical server as the existing cluster. All it needs is network connectivity. Thanks & Regards Raees Shaikh

Hi Ratheesh You won't run into ITL file issue while performing upgrade/migrate task using PCD as it performs a backup of the Private & Public keys from the existing cluster & restores them in the new CUCM 10.x cluster. Therefore, the new ITL file is signed using the same keys & the phones would accept it seamlessly. Thanks & Regards Raees Shaikh

Hi Kazim Yes, you would need to upgrade the customer CUCM system from CUCM ver 6,.1.2 to CUCM ver 6.1.5 before starting the migration using PCD to CUCM ver 10.x. As far as the license is concerned, the PCD software is shipped along with the CUCM 10.x bootable image & does not require any license for performing tasks like migration etc. Regards Raees Shaikh
