hi all, i have a question in that when i do a "sh run" on my cat 3850 one port its both an access and a trunk but i thought it could either be a trunk or a access port and NOT both (see below) interface GigabitEthernet1/0/37 switchport access vlan 22 switchport mode trunk switchport nonegotiate switchport voice vlan 35 switchport port-security mac-address sticky trust device cisco-phone auto qos voip cisco-phone spanning-tree portfast service-policy input AutoQos-4.0-CiscoPhone-Input-Policy service-policy output AutoQos-4.0-Output-Policy but then when i do a "sh int status" its listed as a trunk Gi1/0/37 connected trunk a-full a-100 10/100/1000BaseTX thanks, rob

the 3850 are 2 stacked switches and we manage them via one managed ip address the 7000 we have 2 but there not stacked as they each have a managed ip address each

hi all, were migrating over from a catalyst 3850 to a nexus 7000 i have populated one line module card in the 7000 to 1gig copper sfps to do the transition my question is can i easily copy the port configs over to the new switch or do i have to manually do it via the "sh run" command and do all the commands manually? thanks, rob

hi all, i want to make a switchport back to access from a fabric extender i have done the command - default int eth9/13 int eth9/13 switchport mode access switchport access vlan 110 no shut but its still showing up as a FEX port, how can i change this please many thanks, rob EDIT - i have a feeling there actually different connectors?

*you should be able to disable IP routing on the GUI to stop inter Vlan routing* can i do this via terminal or is it "no ip routing" but if i disable ip routing ie make it a layer 2 switch wont i lose the functionality in making different ip gateway addresses for different vlans and i will just be able to create one ip gateway vlan ie this will be the management ip to manage the switch? and yes to disable svi would be the easiest option

whats a HLD? so what your saying is dont set up any gateways ips on the switch instead set up the gateway ips on the router? thanks

hi all, as i have added ip interface addresses for these vlans i want to stop inter-vlaning on the switch so the two vlans cant talk to eachother on the switch, they have to go back to the firewall to do all the routing isnt this called an ACL rule? thanks, rob

ok scrap this it works, i was being a donut as on our dhcp server we have set mac authentication so i needed to put it in the allow filter also do you think i need a dhcp helper address?

hi all, i have two vlans and we call it the production vlan 110 130 the dhcp server is on vlan 130 (10.110.130.50) and its handing out dhcp leases to vlan 110 and it works on all the other switches as any computer you plug in on an access vlan 110 it gets a 10.110.110.x address but everytime i plug in my laptop to this 4510 cat switch its not working heres my config interface Vlan110 ip address 10.110.110.4 255.255.254.0 ip helper-address 10.110.130.50 ! interface Vlan130 ip address 10.110.130.4 255.255.254.0 am i doing something wrong thanks, rob
