I've upgraded to a ASA ver 8.x and my understanding is PPTP isn't supported. I've converted over to the Cisco AnyConnect client because it is very flexible.You can use split tunneling to provide support for internet browsing while connected to VPN.

By not working, are you meaning that outgoing email stops or you are seeing emails being rejected by other mail servers (like AOL)?Can you browse the internet from your mail server when the problem is occuring or is it just email?

I have done what you are trying to do and hav experienced the same problem. The issue I found was that the ISAKMP key for the static crypto tunnel and the ISAKMP key for the DMVPN tunnel would conflict.When the SA expires, it would find the other key...
