Do I need an IP server/pbx for just paging/intercom?

Hi there, first post here.

I have a 5 cisco phone IP system with a cloud server hosted by Keyyo.

I'd like to program my handsets (SPA504g) to be able to do 1  button paging plus make intercom calls to the other handsets.

Keyyo tells me flat out this is "impossible"without given any more information.

From what I've read it is possible but I can't access the web interface on the phones as Keyyo won't give me the admin password.

I have decided that if they won't play ball I'll just buy some more SPA504g phones, hook them up to a POE and program them to just do paging and intercom.

Can I do this with no server or do I need to buy a small IP server?

Phones are dumb terminals; they have no independant calling functionality. Your call control solution (ie PBX) needs to tell the phone everything. If your current provider doesn’t suppprt it then look for one that does.
