Dear Netpros,
We have a Cisco AS5350 being used for termination in Laos. This gateway is connected to 4 E1s currently. Now we have a gateway to gateway setup with some customers whereas gatekeeper/H323 Proxy to gateway setup with the rest of the customers. Now we have configred the "preference" command on the dial-peer of each customer. With this command already setup does it mean that if the calls from a particular customer, who has first preference on the first E1, fills up the first E1 then the calls will automatically go to the second E1? If a particular call of a customer lands on the 1st E1 and if the channels on the 1E1 are all occupied then will the same call be transferred to the second E1? How does the gateway handle incoming calls based on the preference set on each dial-peer for each customer?
Any help in this area would be highly appreciated.
Cheers

Preferences on dial peers are evaluated on outgoing call legs. For POTS dial-peers, the dial-peer hunting is done automatically. Calls are routed in the first phase by using the dial-peer with the lower preference and then using the dial-peers with a higher preference. Thus you can send all calls to a specific destination to one E1, when this one is full calls, will be routed to a second one if a dial-peer with a higher preference is found.
The incoming traffic is not handled based on preference on dial-peers but on different criteria (incoming called-number, answer-address etc...)

Well I would say that incoming traffic is routed via the other side of the E1. The originating side.

It is not very clear to me what the question is.
Just to help you understanding the IOS call processing you can have a look on those detailed documents:

I am trying to work around with my as5800 the following call flow :
customer---->telco house---->as5800------>Telco house
<232....>
This I want to do by sharing same E1 PRI for both inbound and outbound dial-peer.The config I did for dial-peer is :
translation-rule 1
rule 0 2055 160221
dial-peer voice 1 pots
numbering-type international
destination-pattern 2055
translate-outgoing called 1
port 1/0/2:D
!
dial-peer voice 2 pots
incoming called-number 2172721111
I dont have any voice feature card in as5800 and presently it used for only internet dial up access and no voice application.
The information I got from cisco site is :
"call hairpinning without the need of a Voice Feature Card (and its digital signal processor) is available only on the Cisco AS5800"
Till now no success for me.
The isdn q931 debug is
107472: 9w5d: ISDN Se1/0/2:15: RX <- SETUP pd = 8 callref = 0x7097

I got the problem.
You got a dial-peer matching problem:
dial-peer voice 2 pots
incoming called-number 2172721111 <-means DNIS not ANI!!!
Your call COMES FROM "2172721111" and NOT GOING TO "2172721111"!!!
Please have a look on the documents recommended already and try to use:
dial-peer voice 2 pots
incoming called-number 2055
or
answer-address 2172721111
and also add
port 1/0/2:D
Just be SURE you are matching correctly the INCOMING DIAL PEER.
Good luck

Do you have any other POTS dial-peers into the configuration?
If yes pay attention to any "incoming called-number" command on those dial-peers which could match your incoming call.
I also suspect something related to the IOS version but this requests a more deep investigation (debugs and so on just to see what dial-peer is the router matching "debug voice ccapi inout").
I suggest you contact the local support or partner to help you solve that issue as long as it seems that all the recommended steps were done.

No any other POTS dial-peers.I am having 6 PRI's working. All except one used for Internet Dial up access. One PRI I am trying to use for PSTN to PSTN swiching.
The current version is :
Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software
IOS (tm) 5800 Software (C5800-P456I-M), Version 12.1(5)T8, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
Following is config of serial interface :
interface Serial1/0/2:15
no ip address
isdn switch-type primary-net5
isdn incoming-voice modem
Anything needs to be added?
Also no config entries for voice port :
!
voice-port 1/0/2:D
!
Telco side of PRI tested thro ISDN tester.Got all numbers from their side on any of the 30 B channels.

Hello,
You are running a VERY old IOS version!
Try a newer image of 12.2 train or even 12.3.
You should have the problems fixed there.

whether I have to upgrade the ios image of 7206 router also alongwith as5800.
I don't have any cco connection so how to download the ios image?

Only the AS should be upgraded.
The IOS images can be obtained ONLY from your partner OR directly form the CCO. Both options assumes you purchased the Software Support option for the boxes (e.g. SmartNet or another form of SW support for Licensing purposes).

Eureka!!! following config is working with the same IOS image of 12.1 on as5800 =>
translation-rule 1
Rule 0 2055 160221
dial-peer voice 1 pots
destination-pattern 2055
translate-outgoing called 1
direct-inward-dial
port 1/0/2:D
!
voice-port 1/0/2:D
!
But this only partially solves my problem. My actual requirement is =>
1.After the number 160221 is dialed I want to dial the 10 digit calling card number with a pause of 4 secs the period required for getting the announcement prompting me to dial 10 digit calling card number.
2.I want the calling line identity to be presented to the calling card system is that of originating number of telco and not PRI number (2722055)
Whether it is possible.I think we are very near to the solution.

Prasanna
