VOIP Backup

I have a 2620 connected to a Merlin Magix via a T-1. All incoming DID calls are routed from the magix to the router and then over a frame relay link to another location. I was wondering if it would be possible to configure a dial peer to route calls back thru the Magix and out to the PSTN. The telephone number would need to be changed to an international number. This would be helpfull in case the frame relay link was down

Thanks

Will

You can do this in multiple ways. THe easiest way would be to set up dial peers and prefernces and use translation rules to change the numbers

FOr example :

translation-rule 1

rule 1 ^42 0119242

dial-peer voice 1 voip

destination-pattern 42....

sessiaon target ipv4:1.1.1.1

prefernce 1

dial-peer voice 2 pots

destination-pattern 0119242.....

port 1/0:0

prefernce 2

Thanks for your response. Let me see if I understand. I want to delete the 4 digits sent by the router and replace them with a international telephone number. Here is what my translation and config would look like. The ^4 makes it look for the first 4 sigits correct? in this case what would I enter in the POTs command as I already have a destination pattern that matches a connection trunk.

Thanks

Will

traaslation-rule 1

rule 1 ^4 1804011528500180060,,,123456

dial-peer voice 4 voip

incoming called-number 2...

destination-pattern 1...

session target ipv4:10.0.0.2

dtmf-relay h245-alphanumeric

fax protocol t38 ls-redundancy 0 hs-redundancy 0

ip qos dscp cs5 media

Preference 1

!

dial-peer voice 2221 pots

destination-pattern 2221

port 1/0:1

prefernece 2

!

dial-peer voice 2222 pots

destination-pattern 2222

port 1/0:2

preference 2

What im assuming is that the call is coming from the PBX and if the frame relay link is down you want to send it back to the PBX.

What you want to do is make a translation rule which would change the number to an international number. The way the translation rule works is the first pattern is the match pattern and the second pattern is the replacement pattern.

rule 1 ^4 1804011528500180060,,,123456

This will match any number that starts with 4 and replace the 4 with the match pattern

for example 478900000 will become

1804011528500180060,,,12345678900000

Im not sure this is what you want to do. Please look at creating translation patterns from this link :

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/tech/tk652/tk90/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080094681.shtml

You would have to apply the translation rule on your pots dial peer as well.

ALternately, if you have control over the remote router, you can configure the AVBO feature which allows you to configure probes on the router and those probes keep checking the link. If the link goes down then the router knows to route the calls back out on the PSTN. More details can be found here.

Hope this helps.

Will,

The answer attached by Taimor is O.K.

However you must add the command: direct-inward dial in the dial-peer .. pots.

If you are going to change the number adding a new code at the begining of the number, you can use the command: prefix ABCD.

This prefix will be added to the number you want to dial.

Good Luck.
