Have an installation with a UC320W and 8 phones (most are SPA504G). This has been in place for one year and the infrastrucuture is new with separate CAT6 cabling for the voice network. On two occasions we have lost the ability to make intercom calls. The first time that this happened I restarted the UC320 remotely and the problem went away. When it happened again, I went on-site to try and determine the cause.
I found that two phones had leased IP addresses from the data lan pool (192.168.5.x) and the rest were leasing correct IP addresses from the voice lan pool (10.1.1.x). The two phones with the IP address from the data lan were not able to make intercom calls but were able to answer incoming calls and make outgoing calls.
After a restart of the UC320W, the two phones with the intercom issue leased the correct IP addresses and are now fully functional.
I can understand why the intercom calls were not working but I don't understand why the phone handsets did not lease IP addresses from the voice lan.
The only other thing of note about these two phones is that they are connected directly to the UC320W and have power adapters connected to them. All remaining phones are connected to the 8 port POE switch (ESW520).
While on this service call we also updated the firmware to the latest version 2.3.2(6).
I would like to be proactive and prevent this from happening again, any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark Furlong
