I have 2 phones that are both doing the same thing.

after resetting them the are stuck in a continuous reboot and sitting at the cisco screen with a target symbol at the bottom left.

here are the loads in my UC;

I would make sure you have the following things out of the way.

  1. If you are using a SF or SG 200 or 300 switch, reboot it.
  2. Make sure the switchport is set to voice vlan 100 (or whatever voice vlan you are using)
  3. If you are using another switch make sure the trunk port is allowing vlan 100 to pass
  4. Make sure that the phone on vlan 100 can reach the ip source address (default 10.1.1.1)
  5. Check the DHCP pool and make sure option 150 is set, network subnet is 10.1.1.x and default router is set to your IP source address
  6. During the boot up process, check the settings and make sure the phone gets a DHCP address that starts with 10.x.x.x
  7. If you are using another switch make sure the trunk port is allowing vlan 100 to pass
  8. Make sure that the correct phone load set for the firmware version you have http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/uc_system/UC7.0.1/release_notes/rnipt701.html#wp1426841
  9. Make sure that your tftp statements point to all the 797X firmware files on flash.
  10. Then you should hard reset the phone. Shown in the youtube clip.

If you configured your 520 with CCA, you wont necessarily need to worry about steps 4,5, 8, 9

Hi there...

Cool you got the logo of death and also the loop of death both at the same time... your as bad as me

Ok two things you need to do:

  • Factory reset the phone using the 7900 series sequence
  • Plug it directly into the UC not into switch... Unless it is a UC-560, in which case further instructions will be required

The 7970 - 7975 phones can become stale after an upgrade or become lazy and stop provisioning correctly, or if you are doing a firmware upgrade that is too big of a step you may need to go through a two or even three stage upgrade process, big upgrades will also place the phone in the loop of death

Give the above a go and let us know how get on.

Cheers,

David.
