Provisioning, browsers and operating systems

We provide a device provisioning service for our Customers which worked well for years with models PAP2T, SPA2102 and SPA3102. Over the last few months, things have fallen apart and my Customers are having major problems provisioning devices.

I won't even start with the SPA112 as it's a lost cause, but I'd really appreciate help from others in trying to work out what browser and operating system versions are supported by SPA2012 and 3102's so that I can offer advice to my Customers. Here is where I am up to:

Windows 8: I have yet to hear of anyone succesfully provisioning a device from a Windows 8 computer. Can anyone report differently?

Windows 7: Problematic. Sometimes the initial profile downloads and other times it doesn't. Could this be related to the version of web browser being used?

XP & Vista: No known issues

One other thing that has changed is that we have updated our provisioning server from Windows 2003 to Windows 2012. That is actually when the majority of our problems started, so perhaps we will have to downgrade.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Just to avoid confusion - during provisioning, the phone is downloading a configuration from remote server. Phone is client. Provisioning process require a server (HTTP or FTP or TFTP) running somewhere.

You are speaking about browser, not server, so it seems you are speaking about manual configuration of phone, not the provisioning. Even in the case you are speaking about server, you speaking about upgrade of OS, not the provisioning (HTTP/FTP/TFTP) server software. On the other side, you are speaking about "initial profile downloads from Windows 7" asking about browser versions. I'm confused. Can you explain what are you trying to do in more details ?

Something like: "I did A, expecting B as result but C happened".

Debug/log from phone device and/or catched communication between browser and phone and/or phone and provisioning server may help to analyze the problem.

We run our own HTTP provisioning server. We have many Customers using different operating systems and web browsers to log into our web server and download configuration files that are built "on the fly" by our server application.

Our server directs their browser to a URL but sometimes the configuration file will not download and the browser reports an error. I will provide a little more detailed information on the exact error shortly, but for now I am looking for feedback that would allow me to offer general guidelines to my Customers something like:

You must use Internet Explorer version later than and prior to v.XYZ on a computer running Windows XP or Vista. Google Chrome is not supported and FireFox works only on version 123.

You claimed you have your own HTTP server. A customer is using a browser to interact with them. No server nor client seems to have a relationship to Cisco.

All issues you mentioned are betwen customer browser and your own HTTP server. No Cisco product on the path anywhere.

Well, it seems I still doesn't understand the issue. It may be language barrier as english is not my native language. I will give a chance to someone else to respond to you. Sorry.
