Is there any way of having a different ring tone for internal calls?

Hi Simon,
The way to accomplish this is to configure additional extensions for each of the phones you wan to have distinct tones, then simply route all your external calls to one extension, and the internal personnel use the second extension to dial each other.
Furthermore, on each phone, you configure a different tone for Extension 1 (external), and Extension 2( internal).
On SPA 50x, click the Setup key, select Ringtone (4), select the Ext to change the ring to, then elect the desired ringtone. Repeat for the second extension, this time choosing a different tone.
On SPA 525, click the Setup Key, then choose User Preferences (6), then Audio Preferences (2), then select the Ext to change the ring to, then elect the desired ringtone. Repeat for the second extension, this time choosing a different tone.
Hope this helps,
Julio

Hi,
There is one other way to have a different ringtone for internal calls, unfortunately it is a bit laborious to implement. For each internal user, add a Personal Address Entry for each internal extension. As part of the Personal Address Entry you can select the ringtone to play when you recieve a call from that address.
On the SPA525:
On the SPA50x, SPA303:
NOTE: This could be sped up a little by making a call to each extension from each extension and then using the Call History to Add the Entry to your Personal Directory and selecting the ringtone. This will save you keying in the name and number on the phone keypad.

Hello,
Is this just a work around, or is this seriously how you expect it to always be done?

I agree , that maybe a workaround but hardly a solution.
It really should be an option to distinguish an internal from external call and have a different default ring.
This creates lots of issues for users, and quite frankly doing what is suggested is crazy.

Dear Tony, Bob;
This is currently a workaround to make it work. The feature as you described is currently not supported. This is on the list of desired features, but not yet scheduled to a specific release. We will escalate your request.

Alberto
