SNMP on Cisco SPA504G IP Phone

Hi,

I'm working with a network of 80+ Cisco SPA504G IP Phone's and am trying to find a way to monitor them. They don't have SNMP (I'd be interested to know why, if anyone can shed some light on that!).

We use Nagios to monitor our network infrastructure. I'd like to monitor the following:

- Firmware version

- Last time the phone checked the provisioning xml file

Can anyone suggest a way of doing it?

Many thanks,

Ollie

You can embed current time into a GPP_x variable of provisioning file at the time of fetching. Then either ...

  1. ... use SIP NOTIFY method to order the phone to save the current configuration. Saved configuration will contain firmware version as well as a GPP_x value you inserted into profile file.
  2. ... a GPP_x variable as well as firmware version may be embedded into Profile Rule URL. Either periodic checking of profile or SIP NOTIFY triggered checking of profile will disclose both values to HTTP server log.
