UC 540 and Voicemail

Hi, I have SBS 2011 and UC 540 and I wanted to configure UC 540 to forward all voicemails to Exchange 2010. Unfortunatelly unsuccessfull. In voicemail (configuration Assistant) I checked Enable voicemail Notification, and enable email notification, populated fields like OUtgoing Email Reply to address, SMTP server address and port.  On Notification tab I craeted user, extension and email address. With this config it didn't work. So I created on Exchange 2010 new receive connector I added IP of UC, adn still nothing.

I found some datasheets how to configure via Unity express, I was using Cisco Configuration Assistant. Which CLI commands can I use to check what is going on , and if possible to configure SMTP server , voicemail ...

Also Voicemail is enabled in Users and devices.

Thanks.

P.S. I configured IMAP connection with Unified messaging (Smart Application) and that worked, but it would be nice if only one mailbox can be used .

Please any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Hello,

The first thing I would check, is to see if you can ping both ways, from the Exchange server to the CUE subnet.  You may need to add a route to a router, if there is one on your network, or you may need to add a route on the Exchange server itself.  My first question would be "What is the default gateway of the Exchange server?"  If it is not the UC500, a route is likely needed somewhere, depending on your topology.

Thank you,

Darren

Hi Aleksandar,

The only way I am aware of how this can work is that on the clients side (The Users PC) you configure a new INBOX to point to the CUE's IP address, which by default will be 10.1.10.1 unless you changed it.

In order for this to work you would then need to make sure that your Inter-Vlan-Routing is working so that way users on the Data subnet can route to the users on the Voice/CUE subnet.

This is not a direct Exchange integration, rather a User level integration using their Outlook account and creating a IMAP connection to the CUE.

I have heard of some places creating an IMAP service within Exchange and then on the Exchange server working out a distribution method, however I am not Exchange expert and cannot advise you on how this is done, but I do know it is just easy and simple to create a new IMAP account on the users end and have it point to their Mail-Box ID, this way if they delete it from their Outlook it will also delete it from the UC.

Cheers,

David Trad.

Hi David, thank you for your answer. I already configured IMAP with separate account in Microsoft Outlook. It looks great but if user is not in the office we use Exchange ActiveSync to deploy email to mobile. And that means that he wont get email (ok we need to provide one more connection to UC but then all other users that use IMAP to connect to exchange will be lost). I read here about how to configure UC and mail server to work together.

Here is the debug log file :

Exchange is in 192.168.10.0 subnet.  I think but I am not sure that UC is sending from 10.1.10.1 .. Do I need some sort of a email transport in order to transfer email from one subnet to another

You were right. I just added route and everything worked perfectly.

Thanks
