UC320W with SPA300 IP Phone and Analog phone

Hi guys,

I am trying to configure the UC320W with SPA300 and panasonic phone.

I connected my laptop on LAN port 1 (to access the configuration page), SPA320W on LAN port 2, Panasonic phone on FXS port and PSTN line on FXO port 1.

I was able to configure the extension numbers, name... all the basic on the phone.

The SPA300 and panasonic phone can now call each other using extension number.

However, I cannot make and receive external calls.

When I dial 9 + external number it gives a different tone as if it is ringing.... but not really going thru.

I tried calling my mobile number (dial 9 + mobile number), it gives the tone as if it is ringing but on my phone... no call coming in.

Am I missing something?

Is there anything I need to configure on the UC320W???

I will apprecaite your soonest response.

Regards,

Jenna

Hi Jenna,

If you have to dial 9+external number when the panasonic phone is directly connected to the FXO line, then you have a Centrex/featureline dial plan provisioned on the line by the telco.  This dial plan is not currently supported in the UC320W.  This is under consideration for a future feature release.

For now, I'll suggest contacting your telco to configure basic FXO functionality so you would only have to dial the external address.  If you are using the system in PBX mode and have a WAN connection you might also consider looking at using SIP trunks.  There are a number of SIP trunk providers that work well with the UC320W.  See:

As for sales material I suggest starting with the documentation page on this forum:

You can also find information on Cisco's main website:

Hope this helps.

Hi Jenna,

Here are a couple of things to check:

  1. Make sure you have run the Impedance matching on each of your FXO ports (See the FXO page).
  2. Make sure your FXO is configured as a basic FXO circuit from your telco.  It should only have the optional Caller ID provisioned on it.  By that I mean there is no telco based voicemail, no Centrex/Feature Line dialplan configured.

If you plug the Panasonic phone into the FXO line, do your calls complete successfully?  Do you have do dial a 9 + address when the analog phone is connected this way?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Christopher,

Thank you for your response.

When I connect the panasonic phone to the FXO line, calls are all successful by dialing 9 + external number.

Also, do you know if Cisco has a Sales training material for this product?

Jenna
