Hi.. i would like to know whether is there any option to upgrade the DRAM & Flash memory for UC520? i can't locate any part number and form Cisco configuration tools. If we increase the user license or introduce more MOH song, do we need to upgrade the DRAM & flash memory? by the way, can wew use 3rd party compact flash for UC520?

appreciate that someone can share his experience with me. thanks.

For a SKU ordering perspective, there are no options to upgrade the externally mounted IOS Flash on the UC 500.

UC540 has double the IOS flash as the UC520 (256M versus 128M),

On the UC560, there is an option (I thnk will be orderable soon) to expand the externally mounted CUE flash from the 2G default to 8G for more Voice Mail and application space.

There are some stipulations wrt support for partners going the third party IOS flash route, which basically make the unit potentially not supported if the problem is isolated to a faulty 3rd party flash card.  It also presents a extra step for RMA (you must remove your flash and replace with original).

In terms of the UC520 and UC540 internally mounted CUE flash, if you open the unit, you void your warranty, so dont do that.

hi steven,

thanks for the reply. i think i have no worry regarding DRAM and compact flash size to cater more ip phone.

mean while, i hope that you can advice me on this solution. let's say i have 2 branches and would like make the ip phone at both branches communicate over internet, is it possible? as i know this router comes with VPN capability but i'm not sure whether the router is able to proxy or recognize the remote ip phone prefix and the user can communicate with remote user by dialing the remote user ext. number. if this works, it can really reduce my OpEX.

Yes it can and we do support multisite with an extension dialing plan among sites (x + site index + Ext.) a full mesh IPsec VPN tunnel network over the public WAN, However, today in CCA these two must be done together (look at Multisite Manager in CCA). And there are limitations to feature operation among multisites.

I personally prefer the Remote Teleworker router which allows remote phones appear on the host UC500 dial plan, directory, CME and CUE, sharing the licenses of the host (EZVPN connections also supported by CCA)

Hi steve,

am i right to say that the full mesh VPN is similar to DMVPN? the teleworker router is is SR500?

We do not support DMVPN with CCA MSM. Check out smart designs cisco.com/go/smartdesigns and CCA admin guide for reference architectures of both designs. SR520 is a supported Teleworker Router, yes.
