Hi,
I have an UC540 with software pack 8.0.4 (also tested with 8.0.2 --> same result).
I have two 7971G iphones, one 7975 and one 7925G. I have configured 3 different extensions on the desk phones 211, 212 and 213. The 7925 wireless phone share the same extension as the 7975. All phones are configured to monitor the extensions of the others phones, so users can see if extensions are available or in use.
On the 3 deskphone everything work as desired, but I have trouble with the 7925G, here is the the configuration :
ephone-dn 11 octo-line
number 211 no-reg primary
label Tim
description Tim
name Tim
call-forward busy 399
call-forward noan 399 timeout 20
no huntstop
ephone-dn 12 octo-line
number 212 no-reg primary
label John
description John
name John
call-forward busy 399
call-forward noan 399 timeout 20
no huntstop
ephone-dn 13 octo-line
number 213 no-reg primary
label David
description David
name David
call-forward busy 399
call-forward noan 399 timeout 20
no huntstop
ephone 1
privacy off
device-security-mode none
mac-address ###############
ephone-template 16
username "Time" password 1234
type 7975

ephone 2

ephone-template 16

If shared extension 211 try to make a call from the 7975 or 7925, the phone not being used display "In remote use" that's the normal behavior --> OK
I can put on hold/resume calls between the two phones 7975 and 7925 --> OK
The two phones 7975 and 7925 rings when the shared extension is called --> OK
When the extension 212 make a call, the monitered line status on the 7975, 7971G and 7925G change to busy --> OK. On the 7925G the phone screen stay at the "Home" display and you have to use the left key to see monitored lines status, that's de normal behavior --> OK
Now if the extension 213 make a call, the monitored line status on the 7975 and 7971G change to busy --> OK, but on the 7925G it's like the line 213 is shared and not monitored. When user 213 make a call the phone screen directly show the lines status (as he do when shared extension 211 make a call), normaly he have to stay at the "Home screen" because the line is just monitored, and the function buttons (left and right) of the 7925G aren't functional. There is no way to make a call with the 7925G when the extension 213 is busy.
So the line monitor work with extension 212 but not with 213.
I have to specify that I have reset my UC540 with 8.0.4 and just add these lines of configuration after the telephony setup wizzard. Repeat these steps with 8.0.2 with same result.
I have simplify my configuration for debug purpose, the goal is to have multiple users with shared extension between a deskphone and a wireless phone for all, and monitored lines of others phones.
Anyone have an idea?

I don't have a 7925 to test with at the moment, but I'll try to get one. If you switch the button mapping so that button 2 on the 7925 is monitoring dn 13, do you still have the problem?
Thanks,
Anthony

Hi Anthony,
I have done some tests to find where the bug is :
1) dual-line
I have reconfigured the same conf with ephone-dn in dual-line mode in place of octo-line --> The behavior disapear on the 7925G. But if I try to make a call from the extension 211 to extension 211 (From 7975 or 7925G) only the phone from the call is make see the incoming call (If I make the call from the 7975, I see an second incoming call on the 7975 but the 7925 doesn't ring for that incoming call, same behavior if I try from the 7925G)
2) avoid use of shared extension
In this second test have configure a new extension 214 for the 7925G phone (No more shared line with the extension 211). I have also configured additional lines butons to monitor the others extension. All my ephone-dn are in octo-line because I need this feature. And the result is the same as described in my first post. So the problem is not the shared line but the octo-line monitor on a 7925G :
ephone-dn 11 octo-line
number 211 no-reg primary
label Tim
description Tim
name Tim
call-forward busy 399

ephone-dn 12 octo-line

ephone-dn 13 octo-line

call-forward busy 399

The 7925G is supposed to support octo-line DN, as CCA expose the choice for normal extension on the phone.

To complete the debug I have try your sugestion to switch the button monitor position. Same result for the same extension.
So now I have 4 extension a no more shared lines, I have the 7925G problem on monitored extension 211 and 212, no problem on extension 213 (I forgot to say in my previous post)
So no matter where the monitor button is located, always the same problem for the same extension. What I don't understand is why extension 213 work as desired ?

Hi Anthony,
Do you think you will be able to get a 7925G to reproduce the problem or I have to create a support request directly at Cisco?
Thank for your help

Cristian

Hi Christian,
I think you may have just uncovered something. CCA won't let you configure shared octo-lines with 7921/25 phones. Did you configure everything from the CLI?
Thanks,
Anthony

Hi Christian,
I took your configuration and used it in my lab setup via CLI since I'm not able to configure the shared octo-line from CCA. We're investigating this issue.
I'm not able to reproduce the symptom that you report. In my setup when I call 211 from the 7925 I see the incoming call on my 7925 as well as on the 7975 that shares the 211 octo-line. Also when the other monitored octo-lines are active the status is properly reflected on the 7925. This may be a simple configuration we're overlooking since you don't have this problem with the monitored ephone-dn 12.
I would suggest opening a TAC case so they can troubleshoot this live with you over a WebEx.
I'll continue investigating why CCA does not permit shared octo-lines for 7921/25 phones.
Thanks,
Anthony

Cisco Defect CSCti81712 has been open for this, we will correct this accordingly in CCA 3.0
"7921 and 7925 should allow shared octo-line support"
