Backup UC520 licensing

I currently own a 16U UC520, however, I am wishing to purchase a backup unit. Would it be possible to purchase an 8U unit and then somehow transfer the license from my 16U unit to the 8U unit when I need it. If so, how could I do this? Secondly, assuming my main unit is down (irreparably), is there a way I can backup the license, so that I can apply it only in the case I need the standby unit when the primary is down?

We supportboth rehost (transfer license from primary to backup) and RMA (transfer license from the defective unit to the replacement unit).

Let me try to find the details of how, but the RMA would be a way to get a license (on the Cisco Server is your key) over to the new replacement, so it doesnt have to be living is my understanding...
