CCA UC560 Upgrade

Hello everyone,

I'm attempting to upgrade my UC560 to 8.2 firmware, currently on 8.0.x. I'm not sure what exactly I'm doing wrong, but when the update starts it gets to the back up part and sits for about 5 minutes then comes up and says that system configuration and data backup failed so installation has to quit.

Any solutions to this problem?

Thanks for all the help!

Nathan

I would make sure you do the following steps first from the prerequisite guide.  Once you verified the following, try doing another backup.  Also make sure you are onsite and directly connected to the UC500

Disable Dual NIC on your PC

Ensure PC Default Gateway set to UC500

Check Local Routing from your PC to UC500

Check Routing from CUE to your PC - Ping 10.1.10.1

Turn off FTP/TFTP Services running on your PC

Turn Off PC Firewall

I tired all of those things Marcus, still getting the same result.

Run a diagnostic on CUE and see if it passes.  You might be running into this bug

Hi Brandon,

Just to add on what Marcus has advised (which is all correct too) always make sure you are directly connected to the UC, avoid being in a switch port, and 100% do not attempt it over the air, it will bring upon you a world of pain.

Cheers,

David.

I did the CUE diagnostic. Everything checked out okay.

Can you take a screenshot of when it fails and what version of CCA are you using?

And Im using CCA 3.1.(1)

This was a bug that was supposed to be fixed on 3.0.1.  If you haven't used any CLI on the system try upgrading to CCA 3.2.

http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=281010085&release=3.2&relind=AVAILABLE&i=rm&softwareid=281161599&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

I am also having the same problem...though i am using CCA 3.2.

Once it went past the system configuration and data backup failed installed when i connected it to UC directly but when it came to restoring the backup it failed and i couldnt see the new ios version but all my configuration was jumbled and i waisted like 3-4 hours getting it alright, but went without upgrade.

I also have another issue at this site the fxo ports on this UC560 keeps going busy every now and then i have to manually shut them to release these fxo ports.

What could be the possible solution and my customer wants to add few more phones such that if i upgrade the software pack it should be able to support 24 phones which is now licensed for 16.

Problem solved for me now. It upgrades now...the problem was that my windows firewall is maintained by mcafee so i couldn't turn it off. Once i turned off mcafee then i get to manage my windows 7 firewall. After i have done this the CCA 3.2 sweetly upgraded uc560 to 8.2 but the licenses did'nt go up from 16 to 24 as was expected. Any possible solution would be highly appreciated in regard with licensing.

Hi Brandon,

If you can still get 8.1 can you upgrade to that first before you jump to 8.2?

I am wondering if their is an issue with going straight to 8.2 from that version (Although I am sure there isn't).

Also can you confirm you are plugged directly into the UC? And if possible can you disconnect it from any existing network just incase that network does have a TFTP server running anywhere (Yes sounds like a real pain and it is).

Cheers,

David.
