Configuring device settings for 7965 phone

Hi,

I recently installed two Cisco 7965 IP phones in a infrastructure with a UC560. The phones work fine, however I'm unable to configure device settings. I'm can only alter some user settings (ringtone, background) directly on the phone. I'd like to change things like power saving settings etc.

From what I've read on some guides these settings can be configured through the CUCM. How do I change these settings with the UC? I haven't found any way to do this via CCA or CLI.

Kind regards,

Rainhard

Hello Rainhard,

What exactly you would like to modify?

Please take a look at the following document about power saving:

Hello,

The DOC is a good hint, but is there a list of available options for "service phone" somewhere?

Furthermore, I haven't found a way to change the maximum calls for the 7965 phones. We bought them to ensure more than 2 incoming calls can be handled. This worked out of the box with a 7962 phone which we got from our hardware reseller for testing purposes, but the newly installed 7965 won't accept more than 2 active calls and will signal the number is busy/occupied on the calling end. How can i change this?

Kind Regards

Rainhard

Hi Rainhard,

Yes with 79xx phone you  are able to handle more than two simultaneous call on one extension on a button. You should use octoline ephone-dn. If you are using CCA this setting is when you click on the line on the right side on the 79xx phones below the line description. Under CLI when you create ephone-dn you have to make as follows e.g.:

ephone-dn 1003 octo-line

About the service phone. The following link will provide more information about the possible customizations:

This is exactly about service phone command options:

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the links regarding service phone!

When I installed the 7965 phones last weekend, I reused the existing ephone and ephone-dn configurations from the old SPA525G2 phones. I had to delete the dual-line ephone-dns and then added them as octo-line again. Is there a chance the UC still treats them as if they were SPA525G2? Should I try deleting the ephones and ephone-dns completely and add them via CCA?

Hi Rainhard,

Yes you should recreate (delete and add again) them as octo-line. Otherwise they will be treated as dual-line by the CME as you have noticed.

Best regards,

Alex
