ELIN Configuration on Site Page

When a new site page is created, emergency calling from that site is automatically enabled. Emergency calling requires a ELIN number. Here are some guidelines around ELIN configuration:

The ELIN is a DID which represents a site. The number (s) should be reported to the PSAP to be entered into the ALI Database to Identify the location of the emergency caller. When u enable emergency calling from that site, it is expected that an appropriate ELIN number(s) specific to that site be entered.

ELIN must be an un-assigned number. Reason for ELIN to be a non-assigned number is because system internally creates a translation pattern with the extension number of the caller for callback purposes. Since there can’t be duplicates in translation pattern that’s why the limitation of unassigned number.

After translation, it is the ELIN which gets sent as callerid to PSAP. When PSAP agent calls back, the number is translated back to the extension of the caller.

Please provide feedback, if this information is useful to you.

Thanks

Helpful explanation.  Thanks!  I was going to use the "main number" until I read this explanation.
