How to setup a Cisco UC520/UC540/UC560 for CCA

Welcome to this guide.  Today you will learn how to properly set up a Cisco UC520 as a New and used device.  The first section will be for a NEW UC520.

 

 

NEW UC520

Step 1- Start your UC520 by plugging it in.  Make sure you plug your Laptop or PC into one of the 8 ports on the front of the device.  

Step 2- While it is booting up, download and open Cisco Configurations Assistant also known as CCA.

Step 3- When the fans in the unit calm down (slows down), Click Add new community.

Step 4- Put the ip address as "192.168.10.1"

Step 5- Once your Laptop or PC finds the UC520, it will prompt you asking for a username and password.  It is:

USERNAME: cisco

PASSWORD: cisco

 

Step 6- Once you get in, the telephony wizard should pop up, if it does not open it up in the first tab.

Step 7- Configure your router to fit Homelab/Business needs.

 

USED UC520

Step 1- Open up Tera Term (do not use Putty)

Step 2- Plug your consel cable to your UC520.

Step 3- Apply power to your device.

Step 4- Hold the "Pause and Break" key on your computer's keyboard.

Step 5- Wait until this shows up:

 

rommon 1> Confreq 0x2142

 

you must do a reset for this to apply

 

rommon 2> reset

 

Step 5- Let the device finish booting and then say NO to the prompts .

Step 6- Follow this:

 

router> en

router#config t

router(config)#Config-register 0x2102

 

Step 7- Now exit to Enable mode.  Now say "Copy Flash:(Something like this "UC520-8U-4FXO-K9-factory-8.6.1.cfg")

Step 8- Once it stops doing all the reconfigurations, go to enable mode and type this in "service-module integrated-service-engine0/0 shutdown".  This ensures that your CUE also know has the voicemail/telephony service module's CF card does not get corrupted after you remove the power.  

Step 9- Once it says "004623: Aug 15 19:57:48.404: %SERVICEMODULE-5-SHUTDOWN2: Service module Integrated-Service-Engine0/0 shutdown complete" or something like that, remove the power.  Wait 10 seconds then reapply the power to the device.  

Step 10- While it is booting up, download and open the Cisco COnfigurations Assistant also known as CCA.

Step 11- WHen the fans in the unit calm down (slows down), Click Add new community.

Step 12- Put the ip address as "192.168.10.1".

Step 13- Once your Laptop or PC finds the UC520, it will prompt you asking for the username and password.  It is:

USERNAME: cisco

PASSWORD: cisco
