I am wondering if it possible to change the ringing sound to a recording like a marketing one? For example when a customer rings in, instead of hearing the normal ring, the customer would hear voice saying "Please wait, we are connecting your call" or whatever we record.
Is this possible on a UC500 system or any of the 2800/2900 ISRs?

The ringback tone is set by your telephony provider, similar to your cellphone service. You could have all calls go into an Auto Attendant or ACD, which would produce results similar to what you are looking for. But im not sure if that is what you want.

Well we already have an Autoattendant set up. So I guess I will have to speak to the VOIP provider?

Yes, but im not sure if they offer that kind of service outside of cellphones.
