SPA500 series compatible w/ 2800/3800 with CME v.8.x.x?

The only reason I ask is that I don't see it specifically listed here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6788/vcallcon/ps4625/data_sheet_c78-567246.html

And not addressed in the FAQ either:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps4625/products_qanda_item09186a0080875c6f.shtml

I have a potential customer who currently has 100 phones, so w/ projected growth, a UC560 wont cut it. I'm looking at a 3845, and I'd like to save them a few bucks and get 502's and 504's. I did notice their phone loads were NOT in cme-150-1XA1.zip.

Thanks in advance,

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

according to the FAQ here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6788/phones/ps9730/qanda_c67-466070.html

Cisco IP Phone 500 are supported only on Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series:

Q. Does Cisco Unified Communications Manager  Express support the Cisco Unified IP Phone 500 Series?
A. Yes, but the phones will work only when plugged into the Cisco Unified  Communications 500 Series, which runs Cisco Unified Communications  Manager Express for its call processing.

Edit: I realised the link above is regarding 521G, 524G, 521SG, and 524SG IP Phones.
SPA500 on the other hand can be registered in CME  on ISRs as SIP devices, but this deployment is not supported by TAC, as Marcos stated here: https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9551/

Regards,

Vladimir

Just too add...  SPA5xx runn either SIP or a version of SCCP we call SPCP.   Its a tokenized version of SCCP which only works with UC500.  It is not intended for use on CME ISRs or higher.   The same with CP52x except it wont do SIP.

For investment protection, SPA5xx is reusable on managed (Hosted) IP PBX offerings.
