SPA500DS

FAST-DETECT

Hello,

I recently upgraded mit SPA525G2 to FW 7.5.2a (full story: https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3701433#3701433).

I also read through the changenotes/releasenotes (

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/csbpipp/ip_phones/release/notes/spa525G2_relnote_7_5_2a.pdf)

Within those notes lurks some interesting iformation about a new (?) piece of hardware called the SPA500DS Attendant Console:

This firmware release adds support for the Cisco SPA500DS. The Cisco

SPA500DS provides the same functionality as the Cisco SPA500S Attendant

Console, with an LCD screen instead of a paper label. The Cisco SPA500DS has

15 physical line buttons and two physical page buttons to allow scrolling between

the 30 configurable line buttons. The line buttons can be configured for speed

dials, busy lamp field, call pickup, call transfer, conference, and other functions.

I googled around and found nothing about the SPA500DS no pictures, no advertisements just nothing.

Does anyone already know when this gadget will be available? And how it will look?

- LCD size

- b/w or color

- backlight yes/no

- price compared to the SPA500S

- etc.

regards,

Fabian

Hi,

This is a new product and I believe it should be orderable now or very soon. I'm not sure when the marketing materials will be posted but I will try to find out. I can answer a few of your questions - it is approximately the same size as the 500S, but with an LCD screen instead of the paper label. (The screen is about 2 x 5".) It is backit and black and white, not color. I don't know pricing or availability info, unfortunately.

Hope this helps.

The Diagnol size is 5.5 inches, with a LCD display and monochrome backlit. The resolution is 128x320. The total size of the unit should be the same as the SPA500S but it weighs about twice as much, around .5 kg. It is designed to interop with the uc300 and uc500 platforms and carries a 1 year warranty.

For pricing and availability you should refer to local partner/resellers.

Thanks for the additional info.

I meanwhile stumbled upon a quick start guide for the SPA500DS (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/csbpipp/ip_phones/quick_start/guide/500DS/spa500ds_qsg_en.pdf)

with some pictures.

I wonder when CCA will support this new console and if the CME version of the UC5xx series must be updated in order to make it work.

Maybe it also just works when configured as a SPA500S within CCA.

regards,

Fabain

It does not work when configured as 500S, as the data for the display names is not passed to the SPA500DS. The BLF and other functions do work, but without the labels makes it useless.

This is despite Cisco announcing that the unit is compatible with UC500.
