SPA942 Screen Lights Up but does not boot

Hi I have a SPA942 which I have been using for just over 1 year

Yesterday I went to it and the screen was blank.

Pulling the power and plugging back in causes only the screen to light up but nothing else.

The switch port does not light up when power is applied to the phone.

Anyone have any pointers or is it beyond help?

Tim

If I'm not mistaken, the phone has a 1 year hardware warranty. You can give the SBSC a call and provide the serial number of the phone to check the entitlement. If you've owned it around a year, it is worth a shot to see if you can get it RMA. If the database is showing the default warranty out, but your invoice indicates less than 1 year, we can honor your original purchase date.

Hi Tim, are you able to use a 5v, 2amp adapter to see if the phone is capable to power? It is possible the POE may have failed on the port but traffic still passes to the phone.

With any condition using POE, always double check the ethernet wire for good working condition, swap out the wire, and  swap the switchport the phone connects to rule out any issue upstream.

Also consider if you have introduced any new POE connections to the network, as it may be possible to have power budget issue.

This is actualy plugged into the mains with a psu, however I have just tried swapping it to a POE injector and the same thing happens.

Screen lights up but that is all

Thanks it is slightly over a year, but luckily I bought it on my Amex so I will just claim it off them.
