UC520 SIP Phone

I have a UC520 with a SPA525G phone registered with SCCP and I am asked to add a

500S module which is SIP. Do I have to recreate the

525G IP phone and use SIP as its signaling protocol?

The 500S sidecar can be added as an option on the existing SPA525G using SCCP.

You dont have to switch to SIP.

Just wanted you to be aware you dont have to change protocol.

Is this done via the setup button on thre phone?

Are you using CCA (if this is a CLI configuration, CCA will likely not work)?

If using CCA, navigate to Configure : Telephony:VOice:User Extensions and under model, select the sidecar.

The resulting CLI looks like this....so I think this is all you need to add to the ephone... and of course all the additional button maps.

!
ephone-dn  11  dual-line
number 202 no-reg primary
label 202
description Five Zerofour
name Five Zerofour
call-forward busy 399
call-forward noan 399 timeout 20
!

ephone  2
device-security-mode none
mac-address 0018.B9FF.D9AF
ephone-template 16
max-calls-per-button 2
username "FiveZerofour" password 123456
type 504G addon 1 500S
button  1:11
!

You can configure the sidecar in CCA.  Configure > Telephony > Voice - User Extensions tab.

Or if not using CCA, you will need to modify the ephone and change the "type" line:

ephone 22

  mac-address 1111.2222.3333

  ephone-template 16
  max-calls-per-button 2
  username "Cisco" password 12345
  type 525G addon 1 500S
