Mapping Windows drives on logon using QuickVPN

Hi everyone,

We have a small office network with a Windows Small Business Server 2011 machine configured as a domain controller.

If a user's on-site, when they hit ctrl-alt-del on their windows machine and logon to the domain, their machine runs a script in the domain controller's netlogon share to automatically map their network drives.

When the user connects through QuickVPN, obviously the sequence has to change.  They'll fire up their laptop, hit ctrl-alt-del, and log onto the laptop using their cached domain credentials.  Once their desktop's running, they then launch QuickVPN and connect to the domain.  However, connecting to the domain doesn't trigger the script in the netlogon share to run, which means the user's drives don't get mapped.

As a work-around, we've written a script that users can run manually to map their network drives after QuickVPN connects. Essentially, it establishes a connection to the netlogon share and runs the logon script.  What I'm looking for is some way to automate the process. For example, is there a way to wedge the script into QuickVPN's connection sequence so that QuickVPN runs the script once QuickVPN successfully connects?  Similarly, is there a way to wedge a script into the disconnect process so we could cleanly unmap the drives when the user disconnects?  Or, is there a way to configure Windows to run the logon script automatically whent he VPN connection occurs?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

I'm not 100% that it is supported for QuickVPN but search for the "start before login" feature. This fires up the VPN before the user logs on to the machine.
