Shrew Soft VPN issues with ASA 5508 (Negotiation timeout occurred)

Hello All,

 

We have one of our partners who upgraded their ASA firewall from the old ASA 5510 (8.2) to newer 5508 (9.1(7)23). Since then the Shrew Soft VPN client they use (ver 2.2.2) on Windows 10, does not allow people to connect and gives "negotiation timeout occurred" error.

Aside that compatibility issues are the most likely reason for this, as the VPN client is from 2013. Has anyone seen this before and are there any workarounds? 

 

According to our partner the Shrew Soft is not responding to an encrypted request from the firewall and is not making it past ISAKMP

Any help on this would be very appreciated as I have never used modern firewall with the Shrew Soft VPN client.

Upgrading from 8.2 to 9.1 is big change, is the configuration also tweaked as per the compatability from 8.2 to 9.1 ?

 

have you cross checked the configration before and after upgrade ?
