AnyConnect 4.6 error "No components loaded. Quitting application."

When executing the AnyConnect client on my Mac I receive an error "No components loaded. Quitting application" and can not do anything with the client.  I have been unable to resolve this issue for the last week.  Have exhausted google, my internal support staff and search in these forums.  Any insight would be appreciated.

My environment:

Macbook Pro, MacOD High Sierra, 10.13.6

AnyConnect version: 4.6.03049

Remedial steps already taken (with no effect):

Remove via anyconnect script, reinstall client

Remove cia anyconnect script, delete /opt/cisco, ~/.cisco, ~/.anyconnect reinstall client

Reinstall MacOS via recovery, remove client (see above), reinstall client

Transcript from console (sorry for the long dump):

Hello Josh,

I helped someone who had this issue. What seemed to resolve the issue was to upgrade the OS from High Sierra to Mojave.

Dear all,

I tried all the methods I could find on the internet but none of them work. Until I found this one:

https://superuser.com/questions/649614/connect-using-anyconnect-from-command-line

sudo printf 'USERNAME\nPASSWORD\ny' | /opt/cisco/anyconnect/bin/vpn -s connect HOST

I am using MacOS Catalina. After executing the above line in the terminal, it automatically downloaded some

modules and everything works fine then.

I tried all sorts of things, until I decided to restore my computer to a previous backup point where it was working. When it finally completed the restore, I shut down my computer and restarted it again, and the error was there again unfortunately.

I ended up using https://github.com/openconnect (GUI) and it works like a charm.
