The plan is to have the ASA reference Active Directory to authenticate users. Seems reasonably straightforward. To conform to standard practices, a dedicated service account is to be built. Does the service account need any special rights or privileges in AD?

Hi,
On this case the Service account to set up LDAP on the ASA, should have all the admin rights as well as all privileges to access any User account on any directory. If you use an account without permissions or any sort of privilege, it won't be able to look for the User account or group of users.
hope this helps!
