ASA_VPN Code Activation Key upgrade

I have a pair of ASA_5550 and I need to

upgrade the activation key on them. I bought one key and want to apply to both firewalls (primary and secondary). they are both on 8.2 version. Can I do that with 8.2 or I will have to upgrade to 8.3?

Hi,

Pre-8.3 you're required to have the same physical appliance and same sofware keys in a pair of ASAs in failover.

In 8.3 the software key match is no longer a requirement for a failover pair to work.
