cvpnd.exe crashes after connection established

I recently installed all the Microsoft security updates

which started my VPN service to start crashing after

the connection was established.

I have (painfully) manually uninstalled the VPN

client (the normal uninstall process failed and

would not remove the client), and reinstalled it.

It did not resolve the problem. I get the windows

popup window saying "Cisco Systems VPN Client

has encountered a problem and needs to close..."

message. At that point the 'cvpnd.exe' image is

terminated.

My connection is still up and running but the

only way for me to terminate the connection is to

do an "End Process" on 'vpngui.exe'. At this point

I can no longer use VPN unless I reboot my PC.

I have tried to restart the "Cisco Systems, Inc.

VPN Service" and then reuse the client but I get

another popup window saying "Secure VPN

connection terminated locally by Client.

Reason: 429: Unabel to resolve server address."

Can anyone help resolve this?

Thanks,

Keith

Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client.

Reason 429: Unable to resolve server address.

1. A cable problem could be the cause. Check whether the basic network is functioning.

2. A fixed (static) IP address can cause this error as well. Configure the settings for tcp/ip so as to automatically obtain an IP address.

3. A DNS problem can also be a possible cause.
