Download speed problem

Hi,

I have a strange problem.  Well probably a technical issue.

I'm working from home and connecting my laptop via a VPN on the network at my job. That's work just fine, i can see all the drive of the network and search on it with no problem. When i want to copy some files within the network, let's say from drive A to drive B, it is copying at the speed of my upload connection at home. The files i want to copy travel from drive A to drive C (my laptop) than to drive B.  So my upload connection is the bottleneck.

I don't know if it's normal...

Any thought?

Hi Louis-Philippe,

It depends on source and destination. Usually your laptop download the file from one location and then upload it to second network location - then upload of your ISP is bottleneck.

Please remember also that SMB/CIFS (windows sharing) is not optimized to work over WAN links.

If your delay is more than 50ms performance might be degradated.
