Missing documents, can't disable AnyConnect filter on Mac

I recently used Migration assistant to get my docs and files transferred over from my former work computer to my new personal laptop. Everything was fine for about a week, and then all contents of my "Documents" and "Desktop" folders disappeared.

In investigating this, I see that Cisco AnyConnect Content Filter is Enabled in my Network, and I am unable to disable it. This is an old security setting that came from my work laptop and has transferred to my new personal laptop.

1) Can I remove this content filter from my Mac, and if so, how do I go about it? I've looked through so many system settings and I cannot find it.

2) If I am able to remove the filter, is it possible that the contents of my "Desktop" and "Documents" folders will be accessible again?
